On 21st October, Berrow School went to St Mary’s Church for their Harvest Service.

Harvest is celebrated in different ways all around the world. We celebrate Harvest to show that we are thankful for everything we have and receive.

Before technology such as tractors, farmers had to collect crops by hand.

People also had to store food because they couldn’t simply buy it from shops. Nowadays, we have shops and supermarkets where we can buy food whenever we need it.

Harvest reminds Christians to be thankful for everything God has given them.

Year 4 explained what Harvest is, while Year 2 explained why it is important.

Year 6 shared the story of the Feeding of the 5,000 through drama. Year 1 shared what they were thankful for, and Year 5 explained what Harvest is like around the world. Finally, Year 3 finished the service with some Harvest prayers.

The service was led by Ben in Year 4 and Lauralee in Year 3, who both did an excellent job. At the end, Mother Robin shared a blessing and a prayer with us.

As a school, we collected lots of boxes of cereal to donate to the Foodbank.
