Breaking the Stigma: Men’s Mental Health Event Comes to Weston-super-Mare

By Mental Health Correspondent
Weston-super-Mare will host a vital community conversation about men’s mental health on Thursday, 17 July, at The Optima Stadium, home of Weston-super-Mare AFC.
Running from 5:30pm to 7:00pm (GMT+1), the event is part of a growing national effort to challenge stigma and open up honest conversations about men’s wellbeing.
Organised in partnership with Talk Club, the evening will provide a relaxed and welcoming space for men to come together, listen, and share.
Daniel Aldridge MP, Member of Parliament for Weston-super-Mare, will join local residents and Talk Club volunteers to explore how simple actions—like asking
“How are you? Out of 10?”—can have a powerful impact on mental health and suicide prevention.

This event also forms part of wider engagement around the government’s
Men’s Health Strategy, which seeks to tackle the biggest health issues facing men today.

These include mental health challenges, suicide, cardiovascular disease, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
Attendees will have the opportunity to share their views and help shape how support services are delivered both locally and nationally.
