Spring has officially arrived at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, and with it comes a delightful wave of newborn lambs and goat kids — all sporting cheese-inspired names.

The first Bagot goat kids of the season have already been named Brie and Camembert, kicking off a growing herd of playful youngsters born over the past few weeks.

They’re joined by a lively bunch of siblings named Cheddar, Stilton, Babybel, Mozzarella and Blue.

And it’s not just cheese on the menu. Other adorable arrivals have been named Branston, Chutney, Fig, Olive, Pickle and Ritz, giving the Zoo’s Farm Barns a wonderfully quirky theme this spring.

Every year the zoo chooses a fun naming theme for its lambs and goat kids. Last year’s lambs were named after crisps — with twins Nik and Nak leading the pack. But with Cheddar Gorge just down the road, cheese proved to be the perfect inspiration for 2026.

Alongside the goat kids, lambing season is also well underway.

Two native British sheep breeds — Poll Dorset and the rare Whitefaced Woodland sheep — are welcoming new arrivals.

The Whitefaced Woodland sheep are considered a priority rare breed and are listed on the watchlist of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust. Both breeds play an important role in the zoo’s conservation work, helping protect traditional British livestock.

The zoo itself received official recognition from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in 2022 for its work helping conserve heritage farm animals.

Visitors this spring will also be able to watch the energetic Bagot goat kids — known for their striking black-and-white coats and impressive climbing skills — as they scramble around enrichment structures inside the Farm Barns.

With so many new mums and babies arriving, the zoo is also marking Mother’s Day in style.

Families visiting over the Mother’s Day weekend can enjoy free entry for mums, making it the perfect chance to meet the zoo’s adorable new arrivals.
