Celia Hammond Animal Trust Announces Lewisham Open Day for New Rescue Centre Project
By Animals Correspondent
The Celia Hammond Animal Trust has unveiled plans to develop a purpose-built rescue and rehoming facility next to its current veterinary clinic in Lewisham, South East London.
To give the community an insight into the project, the charity will host a public Open Day on Saturday 11 April 2026.

“Please join us at 233-235 Lewisham Way, London, SE4 1UY, on the afternoon of 11 April 2026 for a guided tour of our existing veterinary clinic and learn about our plans for a new animal rescue and rehoming centre in nearby Friendly Street. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of our rescued cats,” said Naomi Sheen, Trustee.
“Whether you're already a supporter of our charity or are interested in our work, this is a great opportunity to find out more about the Celia Hammond Animal Trust.”
The planned centre, to be located on Friendly Street, is expected to play a vital role in strengthening the charity’s presence in Lewisham and ensuring its services continue long into the future.
The Open Day will run throughout the afternoon, with scheduled guided tours available to visitors. Entry is free, although advance booking is required. Guests are also encouraged to bring donations of cat food to support the charity’s work.
Tickets can be reserved online via Eventbrite. Further details about the rescue and rehoming centre fundraising campaign are available through the charity’s official appeal page.
