There were joyous scenes this morning as Clevedon School’s Year 13 students, their families and Staff celebrated the best Post 16 results ever achieved.

In an emotionally charged morning, with two years of hard work being credited, students received news of their results creating both individual stories of success as well as collective success for the school as a whole.

Jim Smith, Headteacher of the Somerset-based school said:

“I am so proud of the achievements of each and every student. Everyone has a story to tell and today is a day to celebrate those stories.”

Head of Sixth Form, Chris Blake added:

“It is exciting that the students can now access the next chapter of their life, be it university, apprenticeships or employment knowing they have done themselves proud”.

The results, which included 38% A*/A grades and 100% course completion, were testament to the dedication and resilience of the staff and students as the outstanding results were achieved against a backdrop of disruption to the school buildings.

Prior to new classrooms opening for the start of the new academic year, some lessons were being taught in temporary marquee accommodation for the last two years.

Clevedon School students have secured places at a wide variety of universities and hugely competitive apprenticeships.

Equally some students are opting for a gap year or entering into the world of work following extensive careers and guidance support in the Sixth Form.

All students are supported throughout the Sixth Form in deciding a ‘Post18 Pathway’ with a range of support from the Futures team including work experience, mock interviews and personal mentoring.

This support package was graded as Outstanding by OFSTED in the school’s May 2024 inspection.
