Harley the Hero: Celebrating Strength, Milestones, and the Power of Positivity

By Ellise Hollie-Hayward, Disabilities Correspondent
March was Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and celebrate both the small and big milestones of those living with the condition.
Harley has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, HIE (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy), hyperinsulinism, epilepsy, visual impairment, and scoliosis.
He experiences daily seizures and pain, some days more intense than others—yet he continues to smile and laugh every day.
Since birth, Harley has fought to survive, earning him the title of our very own superhero. He relies on caregivers for support in every aspect of his life.
Despite his challenges, Harley is a happy, cheeky, and clever boy who loves meeting new people and being sociable. He enjoys going on adventures and staying active.
Harley faces significant challenges daily and requires full-time care, including support with socializing and personal needs.
But none of this holds him back—he continues to accomplish incredible things. He’s constantly learning, picking up new words, and finding ways to communicate with the world around him.
His determination is inspiring, and he wouldn’t be able to achieve so much without the unwavering love and support of his family and carers. Harley’s family maintains a positive outlook and shares an important message:
Always be kind. Don’t see a problem—see a difference.
