Helping create one last special memory for London families

For some families, one of life’s most precious moments can be as simple as sharing fish and chips by the sea, watching their favourite football team or spending one more special day together.

Now, a new initiative from the London Ambulance Service is helping people living with terminal illness make those memories happen.

The London Wish Ambulance allows terminally ill patients to take one final meaningful trip with the people they love, supported by ambulance crews who volunteer their own spare time to make each journey possible.

A wish could be almost anything – attending a wedding, visiting a favourite place, enjoying a concert, going to the zoo or simply returning home to spend precious time with family.

London Ambulance Service Chief Executive Jason Killens said the programme is about creating moments that families can treasure forever.

“These aren’t just journeys; they’re memories that become part of a family’s story forever,” he said.

Crews provide expert care throughout each trip, helping patients stay safe and comfortable while they enjoy an experience that means something special to them.

The service is now asking the public to help make more wishes possible through donations. Contributions could help towards fuel, entrance fees, meals or even a simple cup of tea along the way.

The London Wish Ambulance team hopes that, with the support of the public, many more people will be able to enjoy one final special experience with their loved ones.
