A tech academy start-up based in Ukraine is helping people get into the tech industry free of charge before employment.

Mate academy is an edtech startup that this year scaled its operations worldwide. The main product is a technological platform where people learn coding.

At the end of 2021, the team attracted $1.9 million in investment to enter international markets.

Students from the EU, Asia, Africa, the US, Canada, and the UK learn to code on the Mate academy platform.
Some 2,000 students found jobs as software engineers, and our graduates work at Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and other well-known and local companies in Europe and the world.

A spokesperson said: “To accept a challenge such as finding your first job offer from a tech company is definitely a hard process.

“Students from all countries in reality share common problems—staying motivated and not giving up while trying to find their first job. But everything is possible if the institution where people study invests in their coding experience as a higher priority.”

- “The age of the student matters” – nonsense.

She added: ”People that want to join the tech community need to realize that a student's age doesn’t affect coding processes. How good a person would be at programming depends only on persistence. The oldest student of the academy is 54 years old. Like all other students, he found his first job in tech as a developer.

“If people want to try to get into the tech industry—they just need to try. The edtech market offers many options to reach this goal, but they need to carefully make a final choice on the place where they would like to study. Interested individuals should read students' feedback, analyze how the IT school business model works, and find the best option for themselves. “
