It’s official - happiness boosts productivity

There is now proof that caring about the wellbeing and happiness of your people at work is good for your business.

A recent study published in Management Science finds that happiness boosts  productivity and in a big way.

In an article in Forbes magazine, the study showed that for each one-unit increase in happiness, on a scale of 0-10, led to a massive 12% increase in productivity.

If you wonder why happiness boosts productivity, the authors of the study theorized several possible reasons.

It could be that happy workers are better at organizing their time, or they work faster while in a good mood, or are more efficient at converting calls into sales while they were in a good mood.

A happy person may also laugh more, signaling that they are friendly and open.
