King Alfred School Sailor Brooke Takes Third Place at Poole Sailing Event
Brooke takes top SW ranking after brilliant Poole finish

By Grace, 14, Good News Room at The King Alfred Academy

A huge congratulations to Brooke at The King Alfred School, who excelled in the latest Super South Topper sailing event at Poole Yacht Club.

The 14-year-old student bagged an amazing third place overall and finished as the top female sailor out of 71 competitors. The weekend was far from easy, with strong winds making racing really tough for everyone on the water.

Brooke led the very first race right from the start, but total bad luck struck when a race flag mix-up meant the top six sailors didn't get a score for that round.

But she didn't let that get to her – she bounced right back in the remaining races, finishing 2nd in race two, 3rd in race three, and 5th in race four.

Her consistent comeback was more than enough to lock in 3rd place overall and make her the highest-placed girl in the entire fleet.

Even better, this brilliant result has pushed Brooke straight to the top of the South West Topper leaderboard!

Next up, Brooke is heading off to Portland to represent Great Britain at the European Championships. She said she was absolutely thrilled with how Poole went and is feeling great about her form heading into such a massive week of racing.
