Lasagna Love: Serving Up Kindness One Homemade Meal at a Time

By Ellise Hollie Hayward, Disabilities Correspondent
Lasagna Love is a grassroots non-profit movement that connects volunteer chefs with neighbours in need by delivering free, home-cooked lasagnes — no judgement, and no questions asked.
What began in one kitchen during the pandemic has grown into a global movement powered by kindness. Every city, county, and now country has its own unique flavour, thanks to the care and generosity of local volunteers.
Whether you're an experienced cook or simply want to help someone in your community, there are many ways to get involved — from cooking, to spreading the word, to donating.
It all starts at lasagnalove.org.
Lasagna Love has delivered over 530,000 lasagnes and impacted more than 2.3 million people, thanks to the efforts of over 80,000 volunteers.
But their impact goes far beyond the numbers — each meal is a personal gesture of care.

In their very first UK match, a volunteer named Saskia cooked for Alex, a recipient navigating disability and mental health challenges.
Alex shared:
“I actually found out about Lasagna Love through a girl I watch on YouTube called Meghan Hughes. She lives in Vermont, so I thought it was a bit of a long shot when I went to the website to see if it covered the UK too — and I was delighted when I found out that it did.
"I am always looking for new ways to help out in my community and I love cooking, so this scheme really called out to me. I was thrilled when I received my first match and have already told all of my friends and family about it and encouraged them to volunteer. I cannot wait for my next match — and hopefully lots more in the future.”
Saskia said:
“As someone who struggles with their mental health and disability, it can be hard for me to prepare my own meals. Having a fresh, home-cooked meal brought to my doorstep — and asking for help — has been a huge step for me.
I am so thankful to the volunteer who prepared the lasagne for me and my fiancé. I am in awe of the dedication at Lasagna Love, and I hope it continues to help others!”
Stories like Alex and Saskia’s remind the team why they do this work — and why they are always looking for new volunteers ready to make a difference with something as simple as a home-cooked meal.
DON'T MISS:

Lasagna Love was founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its founder saw families around her struggling and wanted to create a personal, tangible way to offer help.
What started as one mum delivering lasagne to neighbours has quickly become a national — and now international — kindness movement.
The idea is simple: use food as a way to connect people, build empathy, and strengthen communities. Whether you're signing up to cook, requesting a meal, or donating to support the mission, every small act contributes to something much bigger.
Lasagna Love’s dream is to create a global movement of kindness. They began in the United States, recently expanded to Australia, and now to the United Kingdom. This year’s National Lasagna Day (29 July) was especially meaningful as they celebrated their very first pairing in the UK.
As they continue to grow, they invite anyone, anywhere, to join them.
