A local electrical firm is being hailed as a quiet force behind a growing network of lifesaving equipment across Weston-super-Mare.

AMS Electrical has partnered with community initiative Donate For Defib, which works alongside the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, to install public access defibrillators in key locations across the town.

So far, the team has voluntarily fitted 23 units, with a 24th currently underway and more planned in the coming months.

The devices are strategically placed to ensure rapid access in emergencies, where early intervention can make the difference between life and death.

But their contribution extends far beyond installation.

The company actively supports planning and awareness efforts, attends project meetings, and carries out additional electrical work where required. They also provide ongoing maintenance and warranty support, ensuring each unit remains safe, compliant, and ready for use.

The value of their in-kind work has already exceeded £7,000 — a significant investment in community safety.

In addition to their technical support, members of the AMS Electrical team have completed CPR and defibrillator training, equipping themselves with the skills needed to respond in an emergency.

Josh, Project Lead at Donate For Defib, praised the company’s efforts, saying:

“We couldn’t do our work without them. Their support has made a real difference to the community.”

The initiative highlights the impact local businesses can have when they commit their expertise and time to public wellbeing.

With more installations planned, Weston-super-Mare is becoming an increasingly prepared community — thanks in no small part to the efforts of one dedicated local team.
