Ackworth School in Yorkshire is celebrating after scooping a major national honour at the prestigious Music & Drama Education Awards 2026.

The award recognises the school’s outstanding drama programme, shining a spotlight on the creativity, ambition and commitment shown by both students and staff.

The awards highlight the very best in performing arts education across the UK, judged by leading experts from the creative and education sectors.

In their official comments, judges were full of praise for Ackworth’s approach:

“The judges liked the school’s integrated approach in balancing students’ needs and development with quality output. They were impressed with the level of internal support for the department and the challenging play choices made for productions.”

The recognition reflects Ackworth’s belief that drama goes far beyond the stage.
