Primary School Earns Prestigious Platinum Sports Award

A primary school in North Somerset has been awarded the School Games Platinum Mark in recognition of its commitment to sport and physical activity.
Walliscote Primary School received the award for the 2025/26 academic year after more than 300 pupils took part in local inter-school sporting events during the year.
The School Games Mark is a government-backed awards programme, delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, which recognises schools that encourage participation in sport, competition and physical activity both in school and in the wider community.
To achieve Platinum status, schools must meet a range of criteria covering participation, competition, leadership and sports clubs.
Walliscote Primary said the award reflected the dedication of its pupils, staff and the young leaders and sports coaches who helped organise activities throughout the year.

Shane German, School Games Organiser at the North Somerset Sport Education Association (NSSPEA), congratulated the school on the achievement.
He said: "I would like to congratulate Walliscote Primary School on achieving the Platinum School Games Mark Award and thank the lead applicant for many years of hard work in getting to this point.
"I am really impressed with the Platinum case study, which shows how the school has overcome challenges to provide pupils with positive experiences in PE, physical activity and school sport."
He also praised the school's involvement in seven in-school sessions delivered during the year and the wider sporting opportunities available to pupils.
The school thanked PE lead Mr Russell, Shane German, Lee Molland and Mr Harper for their contribution to the award and said it hopes to retain its Platinum status when it applies again in 2027.
