Weston Brain Expert Launches UK Tour Blending Science, Music and the Secrets of Happiness
By Business Editor
A leading Weston-based neurologist and brain expert, Dr Andrew Curran, is embarking on a nationwide tour that aims to help professionals and business leaders unlock happiness and success — using the science of the brain, the power of emotional intelligence, and even live music.
Dr Curran, 67, who has more than 25 years’ experience as a consultant paediatric neurologist, has spent much of his career helping people understand how the brain works and how that knowledge can transform personal and professional performance.
His new tour combines cutting-edge neuroscience with music and leadership coaching — offering audiences a unique blend of lecture, concert and workshop.
“I’ve spent the majority of my career specialising in the brain and neurobiology, and using this knowledge to train professionals in emotional intelligence,” said Dr Curran.
“Joy and high performance aren’t abstract ideals — they’re hard-wired into our neural circuitry. When we bring science and song together, we don’t just feel better — we lead better, connect better, and grow better.”
The interactive sessions explore the science behind emotional intelligence (EQ) — including how self-awareness, emotional control and social connection are built into our biology.
A recent article from Harvard Business School Online highlights that emotional intelligence is the highest-ranked attribute of successful businesses, with researchers noting it is “what helps you successfully coach teams, manage stress, deliver feedback, and collaborate with others.”
Dr Curran’s workshops also include live music performances with his band, where rhythm and melody are used to stimulate key neural pathways and enhance emotional connection.
Attendees leave with practical, science-backed strategies to improve leadership, teamwork, and wellbeing — tools Dr Curran says are vital for modern organisations.
“Emotional intelligence isn’t optional anymore — it’s essential for businesses that want to boost productivity, innovation and sustainable growth,” he said.
As well as his medical work, Dr Curran has written several books, appeared as a correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live, and was the studio presenter on the BBC television programme Make My Body Younger.
His upcoming UK tour aims to bring a new level of understanding — and enjoyment — to the way people think about their brains, their emotions, and their potential for growth.
