In a heartening example of creative collaboration and youth empowerment, a group of emerging filmmakers has joined forces with the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF) to co-create a joyful short film that reimagines how society talks about childcare.

The project was sparked through a call-out on Social Enterprise UK’s community board and brought to life by Mediorite, a social enterprise video company that trains and mentors diverse young creatives for careers in the film and media industry.

In return for hosting and supporting Mediorite’s student filmmakers, LEYF was gifted a professionally produced brand film — a vibrant two-minute snapshot of their mission and values in action.

At the heart of the film lies a magical moment: children at a LEYF nursery gleefully acting out We’re Going on a Bear Hunt — a joyful scene that captures the creativity, learning, and inclusion that defines LEYF’s work with young children across London.

But this wasn’t just a standard film shoot. It was a co-creative journey.

LEYF staff helped shape the brief and provided feedback throughout the process, working alongside an eight-strong youth production crew.

The collaboration allowed young filmmakers to hone their skills on a real-world project while helping LEYF bring their powerful story to life.

“This film has given us a fresh, authentic way to tell our story,” said Francoise Facella, Strategic Content and Communications Manager at LEYF.
“It’s always brilliant when two social enterprises come together with a shared sense of purpose. We were absolutely delighted to work with Mediorite. Their team was thoughtful, creative, and a joy to collaborate with. They really listened to us, and their young filmmakers brought incredible talent and energy to the project.”

Now featured across LEYF’s website, social channels, and events, the film is already making an impact — helping the organisation articulate its social purpose with new clarity and warmth.

This project is more than just a video. It’s a testament to the power of purposeful storytelling, the value of cross-generational creativity, and the opportunities that arise when young people are trusted, empowered, and supported to lead.
