11-Year-Old Archie Makes History as Youngest Editor of UK and Global Newspaper (By Oliver, 14)

Archie has made history as the youngest-ever editor of the Good News Post, breaking former News of the World editor Piers Morgan’s record of newspaper editorship by an astonishing 17 years.
At just 11 years old, Archie will lead the editorial team for one month, showcasing remarkable talent and maturity far beyond his years.
Archie’s dedication to his craft is evident in his relentless pursuit of excellence.
During break times, he works closely with teachers to refine his spelling and punctuation, demonstrating the precision and attention to detail required of a successful editor.
His efforts have not gone unnoticed—Archie was recently named Student of the Week out of 260 peers in his year group.
Archie shared, “I want to be good at editing and encourage others to become editors. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve your writing skills.”
A member of the school’s Jill Dando Newsroom since September, Archie balances his journalistic ambitions with dreams of serving as a soldier and visiting Australia someday.
The Good News Post launched its Good News Rooms project in 2011 to train young journalists.
Since then, the initiative has expanded globally, reaching Malawi, Africa, in 2018.
Student reporters have achieved incredible milestones, including interviewing former Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Downing Street and receiving support from high-profile figures like Sir Richard Branson.
Mark Tidman, headteacher of Worle School, praised Archie’s accomplishment: “Archie was a worthy winner of Student of the Week, and we are all delighted with his work in the Jill Dando Newsroom.
“The reporters do an incredible job highlighting positive news in our community and beyond. Becoming a newspaper editor at the age of 11 is quite an achievement – Piers Morgan, watch this space!”
Gemma Harris, Head of English, added, “We are so proud of all our students and the exceptional pride they take in their work.
“Archie seizes every opportunity available to him, both in lessons and beyond the classroom. This is a fantastic achievement.”
