We’re Not Just a Positive Newspaper — We’re Changing the Story, One Generation at a Time!

This month marks a major milestone in our journey — the Good News Post is becoming a charity.

And with that, we’re proud to reveal our new name:

Good News Worldwide

Since 2011, we’ve trained hundreds of children and young people in schools and colleges to become journalists of hope — inspired by the life and legacy of the Smiling Face of Britain, Jill Dando. Sarah O’ Gorman took the project to Malawi, Africa in 2019 and now we are ready to take it elsewhere.

We started small. Now, we’re going global.

Our vision? A People-First World News.

In a world drowning in bad news, we’re raising up a generation of young reporters to bring light to the darkest places.

Think of us as the BBC of Positivity. But we’re not on social media — and that’s on purpose.

Leading mental health experts back our stand: we believe constant doomscrolling is fuelling a mental health crisis.

So, we’re offering something different. Something better. Something beautiful.

What is Good News Worldwide?

Good News Worldwide is a brand-new UK-based global charity launching this month.

Our mission:

To spread hopeful, positive news around the world — by young people, for everyone.

We’re setting up a network of newsrooms in schools and colleges to tell stories of kindness, courage and change.

Every story is a seed of hope. And every subscription helps plant the seeds for a better future.

Meet the Faces Behind the Headlines

Our newsroom is full of everyday heroes:

Ellise Hollie-Hayward, 23, our Disabilities Editor and Jill Dando News patron lives with cerebral palsy and tells powerful stories of courage, inclusion and triumph.

Josh Bell, 25, our Charities and Schools Editor, shines a light on the unsung heroes transforming communities.

Oliver and Ben, both 14, our Parliamentary Correspondents, have already interviewed Mr Speaker three times — and they’re still in school!

Alex Crowther was the student in school near Jill Dando’s childhood home who thought up the idea of getting kids to write the stories - now he is 25 and one of youngest ever football club board members in the same town.

Rosie, 12, lives and breathes Jill Dando News according to her dad Ryan - writing stories at school and then at home in her spare time. She has already been on ITV and interviewed Mr Speaker in Downing Street.

Olivia Finch was 12 and the first Jill Dando News reporter in Jill’s former school Worle School - now she is at Bristol University studying medicine and has already done her own BBC TV news piece and appeared live on Good Morning Britain on ITV.

Joshua Keyes was 11 in Worle School and the second ever Jill Dando News Reporter. He is now flying high in the world of sports journalism.

We’ve even made headlines of our own — with young reporters as young as 9 securing exclusive interviews with a Prime Minister inside Downing Street.
