Brain Expert Takes on Blue Monday With Live Music, Brain Science and a Seaside Experiment in Joy
By Events Correspondent
A leading brain expert claims Blue Monday doesn’t have to be the most miserable day of the year — and he’s bringing music, science and an iconic seaside venue to prove it.
Blue Monday, falling on the third Monday in January, has become shorthand for winter gloom. Dark mornings, cold weather, post-Christmas fatigue and empty bank accounts combine to make it feel like the toughest day of the year.
But this January, that idea is being challenged in spectacular fashion.
On Weston-super-Mare’s world-famous Grand Pier, a live “experiment in joy” is setting out to flip the nation’s mood — using neuroscience, live music and laughter.
While the evening promises to lift spirits, it also has a clear and practical purpose. The event has been created to give local businesses a live taste of what Andrew Curran & The Promise show can do for staff energy, morale, focus and connection — while supporting Weston-super-Mare businesses with productivity, growth and wellbeing in a way that actually feels human.
On Monday 19 January 2026, brain expert and author Andrew Curran and his band, The Promise, will present Blue Monday Live: The Little Show to Find Your Joy in Business — a one-night-only live experience designed to lift spirits through the combined power of brain science, music and human connection.
Blending live music, storytelling and practical insights, the show explores how the brain creates focus, flow and happiness.
At its heart is the science behind naturally occurring “feel-good” chemicals — released through laughter, music, conversation, friendship, food and shared experiences.
Hosted at the Grand Pier, the event also highlights the venue as a standout location for corporate events, offering a unique setting for businesses looking to bring teams together in an inspiring, high-quality environment.
Andrew Curran, who has more than 30 years’ experience in neuroscience, said:
“Blue Monday has become synonymous with low mood, but the science shows we’re far more in control of how we feel than we realise. This event combines music, conversation and neuroscience in a way that naturally boosts mood. Even on Blue Monday, it’s a guaranteed way to leave feeling lighter, happier and re-energised.”
The event is aimed at business owners, leaders, HR and wellbeing professionals, and creative thinkers looking for fresh ways to inspire themselves and their teams — and a reminder that great work starts with great energy.
Curran and The Promise Band are the creators of The Little Show of Big Stuff About the Brain, known for transforming complex neuroscience into engaging, entertaining live experiences.
This is not a lecture, but an immersive show designed to leave audiences smiling, thinking and ready for the year ahead.
Blue Monday Live: The Little Show to Find Your Joy in Business takes place at The Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare, on Monday 19 January 2026, starting at 7pm. Tickets and sign-up details are available now.
