Two members of staff and two students from Bristol Metropolitan Academy visited Beacon Rise Primary School in Kingswood this week to help mark Black History Month.

Richard Dixon and John Price took Year nine students, Eva Morne Edwards and Luchia Avery, to deliver a special assembly to around 400 pupils in Years 3–6.

Eva and Luchia created and delivered the entire half-hour presentation themselves, exploring key figures, stories, and themes from Black history.

Their confidence, insight, and passion captivated the young audience.

Both pupils and staff at Beacon Rise were full of praise for the students’ engaging and educational presentation, describing it as inspiring and thought-provoking.

John Price, Associate Assistant Principal at Bristol Metropolitan Academy, said:

“Eva and Luchia did an outstanding job representing our school and setting an example of leadership, empathy, and initiative.
“Their presentation reminded everyone how important it is to celebrate diversity and recognise the contributions of Black individuals throughout history and today.”

This visit is just one of many events taking place at Bristol Metropolitan Academy throughout Black History Month, celebrating culture, history, and identity across the school community.
