Dogs Now Welcome at Grand Pier – and There's a Game Just for Them!

By Jill Dando News
Ripley here, The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset's very own Chief Canine Officer (CCO) with some exciting news!
As a well-behaved member of The Grand Pier team (and a very good boy), I’m excited to share from Monday 2nd June 2025, dogs like me will be officially welcome on site!
This is great news for pet lovers, as dogs and their owners will now be able to enjoy the fun atmosphere and spectacular views on one of the UK’s best-loved piers.
As part of making dogs feel welcome at The Grand Pier, there will be water stations dotted around, biscuit treats available and even special dog-friendly ice cream.
I can confirm from experience, the ice cream had me tail wagging.

And to make your visit even more delightful, The Grand Pier has introduced the UK’s first ever ‘Doggy Grab Game’- so even your pets can join in the fun!
“We know how much dogs are a part of the family,” said Ripley, CCO at The Grand Pier. “Allowing dogs on site will open up the pier to even more visitors – both two-legged and four!”
The change is being introduced as part of a 1-month trial period, with several important rules in place to ensure the Pier remains an enjoyable and safe space for everyone:
- Well-behaved dogs are welcome
- All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times
- No banned breeds or dogs requiring compulsory Government registration
- Dogs that may be sensitive to flashing lights or loud noises must be muzzled
- Owners must carry bags and clean up after their pets
- "Three barks and you're out!" – excessive barking may result in being asked to leave
- Pets are not allowed on any furniture
- Management reserves the right to ask any pet and owner to leave if issues arise or are anticipated
- Dogs are not permitted in Tiffany’s Restaurant
The trial will be closely monitored, and if successful, dogs will become a permanent part of The Grand Pier experience.
So grab your lead, your human, and your best smile. We can’t wait to welcome you to our happy pack!
