Residents at HC-One’s Clarendon Hall Care Home in Humberston, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, enjoyed a tail-wagging celebration on International Dog Day, bringing together laughter, memories, and plenty of canine charm.

The day began with residents gathering alongside Robbie, the home’s much-loved robotic dog, who always manages to raise smiles. To add to the joy, Daisy, a beautiful Shih Tzu, paid a special visit, delighting everyone with her gentle nature and affection.

Residents also took part in a lively quiz about different dog breeds, which proved to be a closely fought contest. The winner was overjoyed with their victory, feeling as proud as any Crufts champion.

The celebration sparked fond reminiscences, as residents shared stories of their own beloved dogs and the loyal companions they had enjoyed throughout their lives.

From touching memories to amusing ‘shaggy dog’ tales, the conversations highlighted just how much dogs have meant to so many.

The afternoon ended with a screening of funny dog clips, ensuring plenty of smiles and laughter all around.

Hayley Sandison, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Clarendon Hall Care Home said:

“Our residents had such a wonderful time celebrating International Dog Day. It was lovely to see everyone reminiscing, sharing their stories, and enjoying the company of Daisy and Robbie. Dogs bring such joy and comfort, and it was heart-warming to celebrate them together.”
