Inspirational Students from Worle School Transform Local Football Club with Stunning 16-Metre Mural

By Jill Dando News
A group of talented students from Worle School have brought a local football club’s venue to life with a striking, state-of-the-art mural that stretches an impressive 16 metres.
Over the course of a full week, 32 students from Years 7 to 10 dedicated themselves to painting the colourful masterpiece at Baytree Recreation Ground, home of the much-loved Milton Nomads JFC.
The project has not only added vibrancy to the club which has 160 players but has also given students aged 11 to 16 a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and leave a lasting mark on their community.
James Stroud, Chairman of Milton Nomads, approached Worle School over a year ago with the idea.
Since then, the school’s art department and students have worked closely with him to design a mural that reflects the spirit and energy of the club.
Several of the young artists involved also play for the Nomads themselves.
The mural was officially unveiled at a special event attended by Worle School Headteacher Mark Tidman, Club Chairman James Stroud, and Weston-super-Mare Mayor Martin Williams.
Speaking at the opening, Mr. Tidman said: “We are a real community school and this mural represents everything we stand for at Worle School — creativity, teamwork, and aspiration.
“I’m incredibly proud of our students and staff for producing something so professional and full of life. It’s a gift to the community that will inspire others for years to come.”
Mayor Martin Williams added: “This is a shining example of how schools, local clubs, and young people can work together to make Weston-super-Mare an even better place to live.
“The students’ dedication and talent are remarkable, and I’m delighted to see such positive energy flowing into local sports and the arts.”
James Stroud, reflecting on the project’s completion, said:
“When we first had the idea, I knew it had potential, but the final result has blown us all away.
“The mural doesn’t just brighten up the club — it tells a story about community spirit, young talent, and what can happen when people come together with a shared goal.
A massive thank you to Worle School and everyone involved in this brilliant community collaboration.”
Worle School is well known for providing students with real-world opportunities to grow and achieve.
This latest project underlines its commitment to helping young people develop skills, confidence, and aspirations that stretch far beyond the classroom.
