Journalism Mentorship Inspires the Next Generation in Mzimba

This week, Truth Gondwe, a trained journalist with the Jill Dando News Centre in Mzimba, Malawi, met three young journalists from Mnjiri Secondary School in Mzimba: Asiyatuh, Prisca and Comfort.
The meeting aimed to encourage them in both their education and their journalism careers.
The three are active members of the Jill Dando News Centre in Mzimba, a programme that nurtures young people with a passion for journalism and community storytelling.
The interaction focused on the importance of balancing academic excellence with a commitment to media work. It also highlighted a strong link between older and younger generations of journalists.
All participants share a common training background, having been mentored by Leonard Masauli with support from Sarah O’Gorman through the Jill Dando News Centre.
Such engagements are vital for passing on skills, values and professional ethics to aspiring journalists.
The meeting symbolised continuity in journalism development in Mzimba and reaffirmed the role of the Jill Dando News Centre in shaping responsible young journalists dedicated to informing, educating and serving their communities.
