Following their electrifying four-night run in March, students at The King Alfred School Academy have now received well-deserved recognition for their production of Grease: The Musical, with several standout nominations at the prestigious David Beach Awards.
Among the nominations, Darcey was recognised for Best Female in a Lead Role for her portrayal of Sandy, while Antony earned a nomination for Best Supporting Male for his performance as Kenickie.

Finlay received a nomination for Best Cameo for his dual roles as Eugene and Teen Angel. Behind the scenes, James Panter was nominated for Best Stage Management for keeping the production running smoothly.

Nick Bell was celebrated with a nomination for Best Sound. In a special mention, Miss Keeble, Mrs Martin, Mr Cupples, and Mr John—the creative team behind the production—were nominated for Best Direction and Best Musical Direction.
The production also earned further recognition across group categories.

Freddy and Freya were nominated for Showstopper for their performance of Mooning. The Pink Ladies (Darcey, Holly, Leah, Freya, Casey, and Bea) received a nomination for Best Ensemble, while the backstage singers were also nominated for Best Ensemble for their outstanding vocal support throughout the show.

Reflecting on the accolades, Mrs Martin said, “I am blown away by the talent shown by our students, both on stage, in the band, and behind the scenes. These nominations are a tribute to their hard work and passion.”

Miss Keeble added, “To have this number of nominations again is truly incredible. It’s wonderful that so many of our students and wider staff team are being recognised.”
She continued, “The fact we’re up for Best Production for the second year in a row is just unbelievable, considering only two shows can be nominated each year from all the entries.”
