An independent lingerie retailer has thanked the customers who have supported her business for more than 15 years by writing a heartfelt poem during Small Business Week.

Carol Jolly, who owns Perfect Fit by Carol in Clitheroe and Bury, penned the verses as a tribute to the women who continue to shop locally and help keep independent high street businesses going.

The poem reflects on the friendships she has built through her bra fitting business and encourages people to continue supporting local retailers.

Carol said her customers have become much more than clients over the years.

"We are a small, independent shop. Support your local bra shop and it will support you," she said.
"There are always giggles and laughs when ladies come to visit me, and sometimes tears as well, because these ladies are our friends, not just our clients. This is so much more than just a lingerie shop."

Perfect Fit by Carol operates from the Millgate Shopping Centre in Bury and has a second shop in Clitheroe.

The independent retailer has built a loyal customer base, with many women travelling from across Lancashire and further afield for professional bra fittings.

In her poem, Carol thanks customers for their loyalty while highlighting the challenges facing independent retailers and the importance of supporting local businesses.

One verse reads:

"Small businesses need you as much as you need us, to grow. Every fitting you book, every friend that you send, is an act of community that means more than you'd comprehend."

The poem was written to mark Small Business Week, an annual campaign celebrating the contribution of independent businesses to local communities.

Carol said she hopes it reminds people of the difference shopping locally can make.

"Small business is a two-way street, my friend. I give you my all from beginning to end. So this week, and every week, show up and step out. That's what supporting local business is all about."
