Lost Gannet Wins Big in Comedy Wildlife Awards Vote
By Animals Correspondent
A hilarious photo of a confused gannet has taken top spot in a major wildlife competition — winning the public vote at the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards.
Photographer Alison Tuck scooped the Sterna People’s Choice Award with her image “Now where is my nest?”, beating 40 other shortlisted entries in an online vote.

The award is decided entirely by the public, making it one of the most popular prizes in the competition.

Alison said: “Winning the Sterna People’s Choice Award means a lot to me. It was really exciting to get into the finals with my gannet and I was honoured to get a Highly Commended.
"However, being awarded this category is something else and I am really chuffed and grateful to all the people who voted for me - not forgetting to mention how much fun I had - it is The Nikon Wildlife Comedy Awards after all!”

The winning shot was captured on a windy day at Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire, where seabirds were seen scrambling for nesting material — creating the perfect comic moment.
Alison, a UK-based photographer who first exhibited her work at just 15, has built a reputation for capturing wildlife in all its forms, from tiny insects to large mammals.

Her win comes with prizes including a photography bag and a fine art print of her image.
The 2026 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards is currently open for entries (both images and videos) until June 30th and is free to enter for everyone around the world, via the website, using any camera brand.

There are lots of categories and prizes to be won, including an amazingweek’s safari in the Masai Mara with Alex Walker’s Serianfor the Overall Winner
