Luke Shows How Determination Can Turn Challenges into Achievements
By Ellise Hollie Hayward, Disabilities Correspondent
Luke grew up with cerebral palsy, which affects his lower body. Rather than focusing on limitations, he highlights all the opportunities and achievements that have shaped his life and brought him to where he is today.
Living with cerebral palsy has opened doors that Luke says he may never have explored otherwise.
Through adaptive and inclusive programmes, he has experienced power boating, learned to play the drums, and dedicated nine years to playing wheelchair basketball.
These achievements reflect both his commitment and passion.

Luke’s journey demonstrates how access, support, and determination can turn challenges into meaningful experiences. His involvement in sport and music has not only built his skills but also his confidence, sense of community, and independence.
He hopes his story sends an empowering message to others, especially young people with disabilities.
Luke emphasises that ability is not defined by a diagnosis. “You can do anything,” he says, highlighting that with opportunity and belief, potential is limitless.
Luke believes that everyone deserves the chance to discover what they are capable of achieving.
