For Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) is proud to share the Perinatal Mental Health Symptom Checker, a new resource designed to help identify the signs and symptoms of both common and lesser-known perinatal mental health conditions.

The symptom checker is just one resource in the newly launched MMHA Information Centre, an online hub which aims to empower new and expectant parents, and those around them, with mental health knowledge before, during and after pregnancy.

What’s in the MMHA Information Centre?

The MMHA Information Centre is designed with parents and their support networks in mind. Here’s what you can expect:

  • clear, reliable information
  • bitesize videos, featuring Tessa van der Vord, a Mental Health Midwife and MMHA ambassador
  • support pathways, including signposting to NHS services and MMHA member organisations for further help and support.

All of the information has been developed with invaluable input from women with lived experience and clinical experts, ensuring every word is both empathetic and evidence-based.

Help us spread the word

Please help the MMHA share these vital resources:

  1. Social media: Post about the symptom checker on your channels and tag @MMHAlliance to help it reach as many parents as possible.
  2. Print and display the symptom checker: Download and print an A3 or A4 poster version of the symptom checker to display anywhere new and expectant parents are likely to see ii. Don’t forget to share a photo of your display!

Thank you for raising awareness

The Perinatal Mental Health Symptom Checker and the MMHA Information Centre aim to ensure every parent knows the signs of perinatal mental illness and gets the support they need and deserve. Your support can help make this vision a reality.
