Six friends conquer Mont Blanc to raise funds for children’s charity

Six friends with a shared Army background have conquered Mont Blanc, reaching the 4,810-metre summit in a gruelling challenge to raise money for Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby.
Craig, Alex, Ant, James B, James S and Danny spent months training and preparing for the ascent, which saw them tackle freezing temperatures, steep ridges, exposed terrain and challenging alpine conditions.
Despite the demanding conditions, the friends stayed together and successfully reached the summit of one of Europe’s most challenging mountains.
The six originally met through their time in the Army and have completed a number of challenges together. This time, they decided to combine their love of adventure with fundraising for Wooden Spoon.
The charity supports children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage across the UK and Ireland, funding projects that give them opportunities to play, learn, thrive and be safe.
The team is now hoping to build on its fundraising total, turning the achievement on Mont Blanc into even more support for children and young people.
