Three Merseyside Police officers have been honoured with the prestigious National Police Bravery Award 2025 for their courageous actions in responding to a serious incident in Southport.

Sergeant Gregory Gillespie, Constable Luke Holden, and PCSO Timothy Parry were recognised for their exceptional bravery and swift response while on duty on Monday, 29 July 2024.

The trio, working out of Southport Police Station, responded to a critical emergency that required immediate intervention and decisive action.

The officers acted with outstanding professionalism and bravery under intense pressure, working together to swiftly bring the situation under control and ensure the safety of others at the scene.

Their quick thinking, teamwork, and courage were praised by colleagues and leaders from across the policing community.

Presenting the award, Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson paid tribute to all nominees, saying:

"Seeing the selfless commitment to helping others, the willingness to put yourself in harm's way, the unwavering dedication to serving and protecting the public… Congratulations to every single nominee. You deserve all the plaudits and the praise."

Accepting the award on behalf of the team, PC Luke Holden said:

"It makes me feel very privileged – privileged to make that difference."

The National Police Bravery Awards celebrate the heroism and dedication of police officers across the country who go above and beyond the call of duty to protect the public.
