By Jill Dando News
In a glittering celebration of talent and achievement, students from Worle Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, were honoured at a spectacular awards evening held at the iconic Winter Gardens on Weston’s seafront.
The Oscar-style ceremony recognised remarkable students for their exceptional academic accomplishments, outstanding character, and acts of kindness that make a real difference in their school and community.
Awards were presented to students across a range of categories, celebrating academic excellence, personal growth, and contributions to school life.
Guests were also treated to breathtaking musical and vocal performances by gifted students, including members of the National Youth Choir and former Worle student Joe, who returned to the stage for a special appearance.
One of the most moving moments of the night was the presentation of the Principal’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to School Life (PROUD Award), celebrating students whose impact and dedication stood out among many inspiring peers. The award went to Maisie and Joe.
The audience also heard uplifting words from Andrew Scott, CEO of the Ascot Group, global entrepreneur, and mentor to more than 1,000 business leaders worldwide, who shared his insights on ambition, perseverance, and success.

He was joined by Weston-super-Mare Mayor Martin Williams, who praised the students for their achievements and potential.
Principal Mark Tidman said: “We are immensely proud of all our students. Every award winner represents the very best of what makes our school community so special — talent, resilience, and heart.”
Andrew Scott added: “It was an honour to celebrate such outstanding young people. Their drive, creativity, and positivity prove that the future is in excellent hands.”
Mayor Martin Williams said: “Congratulations to all the students recognised. It was inspiring to meet so many bright and ambitious young people who will shape the future of our town and beyond.”
Known for its caring ethos, high academic standards, and wide range of enrichment opportunities, Worle Community School Academy continues to empower its students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
The evening was a dazzling reminder of the school’s dedication to nurturing excellence, confidence, and character — leaving students, families, and guests inspired and proud.
The school is also founding home to the Jill Dando News Centre, with Jill as a former student, which encourages students to explore journalism and communication, honouring the legacy of the much-loved broadcaster.
