Young journalists from the Jill Dando News team at
Priory Community School, Worle School and The King Alfred School Academy received personalised letters from Dan Aldridge, their local MP, inviting them to a special event hosted by Weston Pier.

Previously, Mr Aldridge had attended the 26th anniversary of Jill Dando’s death where students joined together to represent her legacy.

The event was hosted by the Mayor of Weston-Super-Mare, Councillor John Crockford-Hawley at the old Weston Mercury building.

At this event, student journalists interviewed several people and met Dan Aldridge who praised them for their work and professionalism.

In the letter he wrote:

‘I was thoroughly impressed by the confidence, professionalism and the general passion everyone had’.  Students were all given the opportunity to attend a Summer School hosted by the MP on 31st July and 1st August this year.
"The two days will be a chance for Weston-Super-Mare’s young people to find inspiration, ‘whether they are into journalism, politics, tech or just curious to learn more about public life and creative industries’.

MP Dan Aldridge is one of the patrons for Jill Dando News alongside many more students and adults including Mr Speaker, Nigel Dando and John Crockford-Hawley.
