With strength in her stride and pride in her heart, 14-year-old Daisy-May Demetre crossed the finish line of the Spetsathlon 5K race last weekend, leaving a wave of inspiration in her wake.

A double amputee from Birmingham and an international model, Daisy’s remarkable journey moved spectators and fellow athletes alike during Greece’s premier inclusive sports event.

Born with fibular hemimelia, Daisy underwent a double amputation at just 18 months old.

Yet, from a young age, she’s defied expectations and refused to let her disability define her limits.

She made global headlines as the first child double amputee to walk the runways of New York, Paris, and London Fashion Weeks—an icon of inclusion and resilience.

But this moment at Spetsathlon wasn’t about fashion or fame—it was about inner strength. Daisy trained tirelessly for the 5K, confronting physical challenges and moments of self-doubt with unshakable determination.

Her mission was clear: to prove that the power to overcome comes from within.

Her story, now echoing across continents, is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we believe in ourselves.

Daisy’s journey is not just about athletic achievement or modeling milestones—it’s about breaking barriers, challenging perceptions, and inspiring others to keep going, no matter what.

Daisy's Dad, Alex Demetre said: "We’re incredibly thankful to the Spetsathlon team for creating such an inclusive space"
