Pupils at Windwhistle Primary School were joined by the team behind the new Winterstoke Road railway bridge this week for a morning of planting and gardening.

Staff from Octavius Infrastructure, which is building the bridge, and Ramboll, which designed it, visited the school to help children develop the raised beds behind the Year 3 classrooms.

The visit formed part of the project's community work on the Bournville Estate.

The Ramboll Foundation donated a selection of tomato, salad and herb plants, along with gardening tools for the children to use.

Pupils worked alongside the visitors to plant the new crops, learning gardening skills while also finding out more about the major project taking place nearby.

The children threw themselves into the activity and enjoyed the chance to meet some of the people involved in the bridge scheme.

Members of the Ramboll team said they were impressed by the pupils' enthusiasm and the care they took when planting and watering the new additions to the garden.

School staff thanked Octavius Infrastructure and Ramboll for supporting the project and helping to create a memorable experience for pupils.
