Yeovil’s newest hospitality venue, Atrium, officially opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Tony Lock, followed by a busy evening of dining and live music.

Located on Western Terrace just off Yeovil High Street in Somerset, the new Italian restaurant welcomed a capacity crowd on its opening night, with guests gathering to experience the venue’s new look and atmosphere.

Opening the restaurant, Mayor Tony Lock said:

“Atrium brings something truly special — a high-quality dining experience that you would normally expect to find in a much larger city. I’m delighted to officially open it and wish the team every success.”

The evening continued with live music and a full restaurant, as diners and invited guests enjoyed the first night in the newly transformed space.

Atrium occupies the former Tamburino’s site, which closed on New Year’s Eve after nearly 25 years, and represents a new chapter for both the location and the Tamburino Group.

At the centre of the venue is a double-height atrium space, designed around an open kitchen and central bar to create a lively and social dining environment.

An upper-level balcony overlooks the main restaurant floor, adding to the sense of theatre within the space.

The project is led by the team behind Tamburino’s restaurants in Street and Sherborne, with Sicilian-born restaurateur Domenico among the founders.

Domenico said:

“It was an honour to welcome the Mayor to officially open Atrium. To see the restaurant completely full — and to know it sold out weeks in advance — is incredibly rewarding for the whole team.
“We’ve created Atrium to be more than just a restaurant — it’s about experience, energy and bringing people together. We’re excited to welcome people from across Somerset and beyond to experience what we believe will be one of the region’s standout dining destinations.”

Co-owner Salvatore added:

“Our aim has always been to create something different for Yeovil — a venue that combines food, atmosphere and live entertainment. The response on the first night shows there’s real interest, and we’re focused on building on that in the weeks ahead.”

The restaurant will continue to offer Italian-led kitchen and front-of-house teams, maintaining the authenticity associated with the Tamburino name while developing Atrium as a new standalone brand.
