Young Disabilities Correspondent Named Finalist in Two Categories at the Elysian Awards 2027
Elysian Awards 2027 finalist Ellise Hollie Hayward

A remarkable young woman who is passionate about challenging perceptions, breaking down barriers and championing inclusion has been named a finalist in two categories at the Elysian Awards 2027.

The young disabilities correspondent is absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for two awards, an achievement that means so much to her.

She has been shortlisted for:

  • No One Left Behind Award
  • Breaking the Mould Award

As a young woman with cerebral palsy who uses Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to communicate, she is passionate about showing the world that disability and communication differences should never be barriers to achieving great things.

As she explains:

"I am passionate about challenging perceptions, breaking down barriers and showing the world that being non-speaking does not mean you cannot communicate, lead, inspire or make a difference."

Throughout her journey, she has worked hard to use her experiences to create positive change and encourage people to think differently about disability and communication.

From speaking at schools, colleges and universities to presenting at the Houses of Parliament and appearing on national television, she has shared her story with audiences across the country.

Through every opportunity, her message remains the same:

"Champion inclusion, challenge assumptions and encourage people to see the person before the disability."

She is also determined to demonstrate that having a different way of communicating does not mean having less to say.

"I want to show that having a different way of communicating does not mean having less to say. With the right opportunities, understanding and support, everyone has the potential to achieve great things."
