Young writers shine at creative writing festival (By Flo, Year 7 and Ben, Year 12)

Earlier in the year, we were invited to the Midsomerset Creative Writing Festival in Bath to have our creative writing critiqued and reviewed.

The judge was local author Alex Cotter, who has written lots of children’s books, including Ice Dancer and House on the Edge.

It was nerve-wracking but fun.

We had to read our creative writing pieces in front of an audience, alongside students from other schools.

I really enjoyed my time there and getting some helpful tips for my writing from a published author.

We also won some prizes at the festival.

We won the trophy for Best Monologue and came second for Best Story in the upper years.

All of us received a certificate with a special handwritten critique from Alex.

We are very happy to have represented our school!
