This half term, Year 6 and some of Year 5 have been working hard on the Snow White production.

Written and directed by Ackworth School’s extremely talented Beth Jordan and Katie Flatters, perseverance and practice have been present in abundance as the pupils learn their lines, work out where to be on stage and hone their inner thespians.

We were lucky enough to interview some of the cast about their feelings and experiences before the performance.

What are you enjoying about being part of the Snow White production?

Gregory: Being on stage with my friends.

Alvin: Working as a team.

Mia: Skipping lessons to practise!

What’s the best way to learn your lines?

Lydia: Reading them out loud with someone and using repetition.

Francesca: Recording my voice and listening back to it.

Grace: Learning the lines before and after mine so I know what to listen out for.

What is your favourite thing about your character?

Scarlett: Being the Evil Queen allows me to act mean without getting told off!

Harris: As Bashful, my character starts off shy but shows growth as he gains confidence.

Francesca: As the Magic Mirror, I get to be bossy, sassy and have attitude.

Alvin: Playing Grumpy is the opposite of me, so it makes a nice change.

What is the best part of the play?

Grace: The middle because I enjoy performing it.

To conclude our interview, we were also fortunate enough to speak with Mrs Flatters, who said:
