Beach Clean Bonanza: Students Lead Clevedon’s Eco Effort with Huge Success (By Megan and Freddie, Year 7)

By Megan and Freddie, Year 7, Jill Dando News Reporters at Clevedon School
In April we came back after Easter raring to go on our eco-projects.
Our first mission was the beach clean. There was warm weather over easter and we had noticed that more people were on the beaches and leaving litter.
We wanted to make a difference.
We made posters and put them up around Clevedon. We also announced in assembly what we were doing so that anybody could join us.
On Friday Freddie made sure he picked up the litter pickers from school so that they could be shared out on the day.
The beach clean was a big success.
North Somerset's MP Sadiq Al-Hassan also joined us and lots of parents and passers by also joined in. It was a lot of fun meeting everyone.
By the end you would not have found a single piece of rubbish on Clevedon beaches. They were sparkling!
In the end we ended up filling 5 ½ bin bags with rubbish. We made sure they all went to the tip to be recycled.
Megan and Freddie are two of our latest Jill Dando News reporters. We have trained and released hundreds since 2011.
