Chatty Cabins are set to return to the London Cable Car as part of a series of events aimed at helping people connect and tackle loneliness across the capital.

Transport for London (TfL) is supporting Loneliness Awareness Week from June 15 to 19 by partnering with charities Camerados, Marmalade Trust and Strangers In The City to host activities designed to bring people together.

One of the main attractions will be the return of Chatty Cabins, which encourage passengers to strike up conversations while travelling across the River Thames between Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks.

The free experience includes a round-trip cable car journey and a hot drink.

TfL and its partners will also host a games night at the London Cable Car on June 16, featuring team challenges and activities aimed at helping people meet others in a relaxed environment.

A day later, a pop-up Public Living Room will be created at the Greenwich Peninsula Terminal. The initiative, run with Camerados, will offer visitors a welcoming space to chat, spend time with others and enjoy some company.

The events form part of wider efforts to address loneliness in London.

Research published by City Hall previously estimated that around 700,000 Londoners feel lonely always or most of the time, with some groups affected more than others.

Organisers hope the activities will encourage open conversations about loneliness while helping people build new connections.

The programme is open to Londoners and visitors, with several events requiring advance booking.
