Community Comes Together for Life-Saving Cause at Blood Bikes Event
By Charities Correspondent
A community event brought together supporters, fundraisers and volunteers this week to highlight the life-saving work of Freewheelers Blood Bikes and promote access to defibrillators across the region.
Held on Wednesday evening outside Revo Kitchen, the gathering showcased the ongoing efforts of local people committed to improving emergency response and supporting vital healthcare services.
Among those attending were community supporters Chris and his wife Tina, who continue to raise funds for additional public defibrillators.
Chris also drew attention on the night with his striking replica of a Mad Max-style Ford Falcon XB, which proved a popular feature with attendees.
Members of the organising team, including Josh, Christina, Peter, Kate and Lucy, were present, alongside Maya, the group’s “Defib Dog” mascot, who quickly became a highlight of the evening.
The event aimed to raise awareness of the critical role played by Freewheelers Blood Bikes, whose volunteers transport essential medical supplies, including blood and samples, to hospitals and healthcare facilities.

Organisers described the evening as a valuable opportunity to bring the community together while recognising the importance of both emergency equipment and volunteer-led services.
