A giant pair of inflatable “Wrong Trousers” has arrived in Bristol as part of a charity tour ahead of this year’s Wallace & Gromit fundraising day.

The five-metre-tall trousers, covered in Wallace & Gromit-inspired cheese designs, are appearing at landmarks across Bristol and the South West in the run-up to Wrong Trousers Day on Friday 19 June.

The annual event encourages people to wear their wackiest trousers and donate money to support Bristol Children’s Hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael’s Hospital.

The giant inflatable first appeared at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm before moving to Bristol Cathedral, where visitors can stop for selfies until 3 June before the trousers move on to their next location.

This year’s event is particularly significant as it marks 25 years since Bristol Children’s Hospital opened, alongside Aardman’s 50th anniversary. The original Wrong Trousers campaign helped raise millions towards building the hospital.

Helen Haskell, head of fundraising at The Grand Appeal, said:

“This is a really special year for all of us, as we celebrate 25 years of Bristol Children’s Hospital and Aardman’s 50th anniversary; two milestones that make this year’s Wallace & Gromit’s Wrong Trousers Day feel even more meaningful.
“We’d love people across the region to get out and about, spot the giant trousers on tour and share their best selfies with us along the way.”
