A 10-year-old boy who called 999 after his mum collapsed with a stroke has been praised for helping save her life.
Isaiah was recognised by the London Ambulance Service during an emotional reunion with the paramedics and call handler who came to his family’s aid.
The youngster had been getting ready for football when his mum Sabrina suddenly became unwell at their home in Sydenham, south-east London.
Sabrina, 36, said she had been speaking to her own mother on the phone when her speech became slurred.
“My mum asked if I was having a stroke,” she said.
“Isaiah came into the bedroom — I couldn’t form words for him and fell to the floor. He started crying and called 999.
“I know he was overwhelmed and scared but he handled the situation with such grace.”
Isaiah said he knew he had to act quickly.
“I feel really proud for saving my mummy,” he said.
“When she stopped talking, I had to call London Ambulance otherwise she would have got worse. I was very worried and then I heard the sirens.”
When paramedics Josh and Amelia arrived, Isaiah ran to let them into the house and showed them where his mum had fallen.

Sabrina was treated at the scene before being taken to King’s College Hospital.
Speaking after receiving a bravery certificate at the ambulance service’s Waterloo headquarters, Sabrina said she hoped other parents would teach children how to call 999 in an emergency.
“An emergency could happen at any moment,” she said.

Paramedic Josh, from Bromley Ambulance Station, said Isaiah stayed calm despite being frightened.
“Sabrina is still here smiling because of what Isaiah did,” he said.
“He remained very calm and told us exactly what happened to his mum.”
He also reminded people to remember the FAST warning signs of stroke — face weakness, arm weakness and speech problems — and to call 999 immediately in an emergency.
