Nine students from The King Alfred School Academy travelled to Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol this week, to take part in Celebration of Sport, as part of the Bear In Mind programme.

Through this programme, the girls learned a wide range of rugby skills, including passing, receiving, and defending.

They also took part in several workshops on topics such as social media use, resilience, and body image.

Over the ten weeks, all students listened respectfully and engaged thoughtfully with each session.

Near the end of the programme, the group visited Ashton Gate Stadium for a tour of the stands and behind‑the‑scenes areas, including the changing rooms, private boxes, and meeting rooms.

At the end of the tour, the students met two Bristol Bears Women players.

As part of Celebration of Sport, multiple Bear In Mind groups from different schools came together. They took part in two workshops: one involving team games and quiz-style questions, and another focused on social media and the impact of online comments.

To finish the day, all groups played together on the pitch in a brilliant display of teamwork and camaraderie.

Walking Football Scheme Helps People With Parkinson’s
A walking football partnership across England and Wales has helped more than 230 people living with Parkinson’s stay active and connected.

Overall, the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were extremely grateful for such an amazing opportunity.
