Malton Morrisons becomes first UK store to raise £50,000 for Marie Curie

A Morrisons store in Malton has become the first in the country to raise £50,000 for end-of-life charity MarieCurie.
The milestone was reached less than two years after Morrisons launched its national charity partnership with Marie Curie in November 2024.
The fundraising has been supported by customers, staff and the local community through a series of events, including bingo nights, tombolas, skydives and bucket collections.
To thank local residents for their support, the store gave away 1,000 bags of daffodil bulbs reflecting Marie Curie's well-known daffodil emblem.
The £50,000 raised is enough to fund 2,175 hours of specialist end-of-life care for people in their own homes, helping patients receive support in familiar surroundings.
Across North Yorkshire, Marie Curie's Hospice Care at Home service supported 223 patients at the end of life last year.

Lily Whitlam, Senior Partnerships Lead at Marie Curie, thanked the store team, customers and volunteers for their efforts, saying the money would help Marie Curie nurses and healthcare professionals support more families at the end of life.
The achievement comes as Morrisons' wider partnership with Marie Curie continues to raise funds across the country.
