Meet the magnet man helping clean up Britain's rivers – one find at a time

Dave Jordan, known as Sonik, has been clearing the environment for 14 years.
He started off with grapple hooks and now uses magnets to clear large areas across the UK.
While the larger projects are in Northampton, for example taking two lorry tyres out of the river, he goes around the UK to places like Scotland to magnet fish.
He has a large team and works with the Northants Litter Wombles.
He said he is proud to see how far he has come, from just him and a few friends when he started to a large team that works tirelessly.

“What would have taken us a few weeks a few years ago now can take us as little as a day.”
Mr Jordan has a YouTube channel where he has over 7,000 followers, though he “doesn’t do it for the likes and subscribers”.
He said: “Everyone appreciates what we do, but nobody puts in the effort like we do.”
His favourite memory was in a video called “Returning Stolen Memories”, in which his team found a stolen medal, cleaned it up and returned it to the owner.

Sonik is hoping to go to different places across the world to carry on magnet fishing, but he is still sticking to his roots in Far Cotton clearing rivers of things like trolleys, batteries and motorbikes.
