Paw-liament in Session: Westminster Dog of the Year Set to Unleash the Fun!

By Animals Correspondent
Westminster is set to go barking mad on Thursday 11th September as the annual Westminster Dog of the Year competition returns.
This year, Westminster Dog of the Year celebrates dogs as members of the family, highlighting the vital role that dogs play in any household, the importance of the human-animal bond and the joys that dog ownership brings.

The event will draw attention to topics such as pet-friendly housing, responsible dog ownership, breeding, training, and socialisation, which can help ensure that all dogs live happy and healthy lives.

Organised by The Kennel Club and Dogs Trust, Westminster Dog of the Year, is open to dog loving MPs and their canine companions of all ages, breeds, shapes and sizes – pedigree and crossbreed alike.

The aim of the event is to highlight the unique role dogs play in society and provide MPs with the opportunity to raise any key canine issues that strike a chord with them.

Previous years have seen politicians and their dogs turn out en masse to demonstrate their political and canine clout and this year’s event will see some of the country’s best paw-litical pooches battling it out for the chance to be named 2025’s Westminster Dog of the Year.
