The King Alfred School Academy in Highbridge, Somerset was filled with enthusiasm as huge numbers visited the school for Open Evening.

The popular Academy is part of the high-achieving The Priory Learning Trust.

The prospective pupils received a talk from the school’s Principal, Mr Milford, detailing all of the exciting ventures ahead of them in joining TKASA.

Before their tour, visitors enjoyed the free food and hospitality available in the school’s canteen from the caterers, Aspens.

Our wonderful Year 11 Prefects took the Year 6s on a tour around all of the fantastic departments at TKASA. Miss Groves, Student Leadership Coordinator, said that she was extremely proud of how professional the Prefects were.

There were lots of exciting activities available, including: ‘guess the number of sweets’ in Maths, delicious food on offer in Food Technology, experiments in Science, and the chance to add to a never-ending story in English!

Hazel and Zoe, journalists from the JDNC team, told visitors about our news centre and the importance of spreading good news. This was met with enthusiasm and we are looking forward to welcoming many more aspiring young journalists to be a part of our team.

Year 6 Open Evening this year was such a success and it was wonderful to see so many families touring our great school during the night.

Principal Dan Milford said: :”The school is in such a good place with numbers growing every year - we look forward to seeing all our Year 6 children and their families again during the academic year.”
