Tamburino — the award-winning Italian restaurant — will close its doors on New Year’s Eve after proudly serving the Yeovil community in Somerset, England for over 20 years.

The team is now preparing to launch Atrium, a new Italian restaurant and bar opening in February next to its current base.

This significant investment will create a bigger, more immersive dining destination.

The open-plan, two-floor venue will feature an expanded theatre-style kitchen where diners can watch their food being freshly prepared.

Sicilian-born restaurateur Domenico, founder of Tamburino, alongside Salvatore partner at Atrium, said:

“These past 20-plus years at Tamburino in Yeovil have been an absolute pleasure. We have made so many friends on this amazing journey and it’s a massive thank you to everyone for all their wonderful support.
“Both our other Tamburino restaurants in Sherborne and Street will continue as normal and are thriving.
“With Atrium, we are excited to soon unveil a dining experience like never before for the Yeovil community and beyond.”

To mark over two decades of trading, Tamburino Yeovil will host a special farewell celebration on New Year’s Eve.

Domenico added:

“This will be a very special occasion to honour all the people we have served over the years. Then, with Atrium, we will unveil something truly extraordinary for Yeovil.
“We want to push the boundaries of what Italian dining can be.”

Tamburino has built its reputation on genuine Italian hospitality, sourcing many of its ingredients directly from Italy and employing chefs and front-of-house staff predominantly from Italian regions — a philosophy led by Domenico and carried across the wider Tamburino group.

Tamburino’s popular Street and Sherborne restaurants remain open and continue to grow year on year, ensuring the Tamburino legacy continues across Somerset while Atrium ushers in a bold new chapter for Yeovil.

Atrium promises to be one of the most ambitious and immersive Italian dining destinations in the region, featuring:

• A theatre-style open kitchen and chef’s table dining

• Two floors with state-of-the-art facilities

• A stylish new bar for pre-dinner drinks, signature cocktails and an extensive drinks selection

• A service philosophy where every guest is treated like a VIP

• A menu built around authentic piattini (Italian small plates) and regional dishes, prepared with premium ingredients

Keep an eye on Atrium’s social media channels for the latest updates ahead of the opening.
